NZSO - A Hero's Tale

Radio recording: orchestral / film
Tom's piece 'A Hero's Tale' was selected to be recorded by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for broadcast on Radio New Zealand, through SOUNZ (Centre for NZ music). It was one of only 6 works chosen from previous years SOUNZ readings.

The piece “A Hero's Tale” was initially inspired by a film-making competition held by the Auckland Philharmonia in 2008 called “CUT TO: MUSIC” where filmmakers were challenged to the rather unconventional task of creating a film to exactly fit an existing score. (see Cut To: Music). It was premiered with the orchestra performing a live synchronisation to the winning film, and performed again as a standalone piece in 2009.

Here's a video diary of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra recording Tom's piece “A Hero's Tale”, conducted by Luke Dollman.
